HSWD Hosted Local Architects

HSWD Hosted Local Architects on a visit to the Kolbe Windows & Doors plant in Wausau, WI. The trip started last Sunday in Chicago with a walking tour around The Loop led by the Chicago Architecture Foundation entitled “The History of the Skyscraper”, followed by a boat tour down the Chicago River with more commentary from CAF docent. Monday included a visit to Taliesin, Frank Lloyd Wright’s home and studio, and then a tour of two Cardinal Glass plants: a float plant, where they create the glass, and a coatings plant, where they apply different performance coatings to the glass On Tuesday we spent the day at the Kolbe plant, which was a great opportunity to learn how Kolbe designs and makes their fantastic products. An action-packed trip enjoyed by all!
